WordPress Gallery Plugin – Nifty Way To Show Your Pics

Jul 1

Good morning people,

Being new to this blogging game means Kickstart is spending ALOT of time researching Plugins to make blogs look good and operate with ease! BUT at least that means we can impart our newly found knowledge onto you, our discerning followers!

Today’s Plugin is a great interactive gallery that makes pictures look great!  We were looking for a decent gallery because we’ve recently been helping one of our friends set up their own building website and as part of the website they wanted to display portfolio pictures from past projects!

So after a lot of mining through multiple gallery Plugins, finding a lot of them complicated and not aesthetically pleasing, we came across the FlippingBook plugin!

This plugin is great….its very easy to manage, you can add text to photos, you can manage what order you want photos to appear and you don’t need to know a thing about coding to be able to use it to great effect!

You can create as many “books” as you like and customise each one individually! We’re still playing around with our friends one but you can see what we’ve got so far in their building portfolio!

It’s so easy to use and Kickstart would highly recommend it to any of you beginnier bloggers like us out there!

Hope this helps people!

Keep blogging and stay safe,

Kickstart :-)

SEO & Twitter Plug Ins For Word Press – A Couple of New Ones For Kickstart

SEO & Twitter Word Press Plug In

Hello!

As I am sure most of you are aware, plugins are a big part to getting your blog running smoothly and looking ace!  As a new kid on the block Kickstart has been fumbling around the encyclopedia of Word Press plugins in order to try and streamline ourselves and get down with the kids on the plugin front.

I wanted to highlight a couple of the ones we have siphoned out of the not-so-great plugins that are out there.

Firstly…as SEO is one of the main topics we cover here at Kickstart it’s only right that we work towards optimising our blog.  There are a whole host of SEO plug ins out there and I think we’ve hit the nail on the head with the one we’re using at Kickstart.  We’ve gone with All In One SEO. This is a nifty little plugin that enables you to edit each and every title tag, meta description and keywords for all your pages and posts including the homepage!

You don’t need any HTML or coding knowledge whatsoever! The plugin automatically places a great little box underneath every post and you simply update and optimise away!

The second great plug in we’ve adopted is one to display our Tweets! Again, there is a wealth of options out there for Twitter plugins, some of which we’ve tried and tested and not thought so great. However this one is great! Twitter Goodies automatically generates Twitter buttons under every post that enables anyone reading your blog to easily Tweet any of your super duper posts! It also implements a live Twitter feed screen onto your blog which you can customise the colour scheme of so you can match it to your background and blog!

All in all, two great Word Press plugins which make your blog look great and (hopefully!) rank well!

Over and out Kickstartees and happy plugging!

XML Sitemap – Pretty Please Index Me

Jun 3
Find Me

Index Me Please Mr Big G

Hey all,

Just a quick one…we all know how we want to be indexed by the big “G” as quickly as possible to get us up there in the SERPS…well I was sat in quandry as my minimal dev skills could not stretch to working out how to install my sitemap into my word press theme so on the advice of a friend I searched for a plugin! I found one called XML Sitemap Feed and so far so good!

It did exactly what it said it would and I could instantly view a sitemap which is also compatible with Google Webaster Tools!

However, as they say, the proof is in the pudding so watch this space and we’ll see if it works!

Fingers Crossed,

Kickstart :-)
